A while back we got a heap of chooks from a friend, and combined with ours it overloaded the chook pen. This weekend we (and in we I mean Hubby, while I held a few bits of tin when I had time) finally got the new shed finished. I counted my chooks a while ago and was shocked to find I had 18 and not forgetting our two ducks. Since when did we have so many chooks??
No wonder we had about five dozen of eggs in the fridge a while back! But not now, the cold has put them off the lay. So the girls are very happy with the new bigger shed. Their old shed is now used to store their feed. Seeing as it was a long weekend, and the day was a glorious (if depressingly rainless) day, we lit up the bonfire to roast some marshmallows in celebration of the new shed. (At least we didn’t celebrate with a roast chook dinner!)
What kid dosn’t love a bonfire! And there are so many sticks around to burn. The downside is the smokey clothes! The sunset on this night was just gorgeous too! It really was a wonderful Saturday to be alive.
And as we head into winter, my lilac trees drops their yellow leaves, which looks so pretty but really is a pain in the butt! Lucky hubby has one of those powerful blowers, makes the clean-up job heaps faster. We’ve had a few frosts already, and some warm days but no rain. All the grass and crops that have come up already are yellow and dying off quickly. Fingers crossed we get some rain this week!!
Now I must go and check on the pin wheels cooking in the oven. I have hidden heaps of vegies in them for the kids and they still taste great so I’m on a winner there. When the kids go back to school tomorrow, my job for the day will be to start writing book 5. Now that the synopsis has been okayed and they are very excited with my idea’s….now I must write it!! I want to get a little bit done before the edits for book 4 come back, which could be any day now! I think we have settled on a title, I will let you know when its confirmed!
I’m off to eat…as usual! 🙂
