Cathryn Hein – Guest Blog

My guest today writes about horses. Now I grew up with horses next door and was always in awe of them and have been on the back of a few over the years but I wouldn’t say I’m a rider. (I tend to stick with cars as they don’t have a mind of their own!!) I had one horse try to grind me off her back by running close to the fence. I lifted my leg in time…but you see…I know nothing lol. But I love reading Cathryn’s books as I can understand the connection you could have with such a beautiful animal. Cathryn is also a fellow rural Penguin author who I’ve had the wonderful pleasure of meeting. (Gotta love the Romance Writers of Australia Conference. I have met so many amazing authors from it.) I look forward to getting my hands on a copy of her new book, and without further ado, I’ll

I played golf on the weekend. (Can I play? … not really, but the walk is amazing around the rocks.) Anyway this is our number 16 tee where I found this bunch of spider orchids. I’ve never seen so many together and these were smaller than the those I normally find. They didn’t come out really clear in the photo, but I was late for the mail run and didn’t have time to check the quality. And the donkey orchids were out everywhere too. Just beautiful.

Picking rocks?

Definitely not picking mushrooms. No, these two little helpers are out picking up golf balls. Their dad practices hitting balls out into the back paddock and the kids love going and getting them (how long till they grow up and realise its not fun and start calling it hard work?). Hopefully we have a few years up our sleeves.

Mothers Day lunch

Hope all mum’s had a great Mothers Day! To raise funds for our babysitter at our local golf club, the girls got together and put on a Mothers Day Lunch with all the trimmings. We had stalls with plants, jewellery, shoes, and had a massive cake stall and raffles. It was a great day and we raised much needed funds. A huge thank you must go out to the girls behind the scene. We are a tiny golf club where some days only two to four girls will play but the few that are there do so much. Everyone does the job of three people I’m sure. But that’s the way it is in a small community, the same people in all different clubs and committies. A top job ladies, were else but in the country do you get a feed fit for a hungry crowd.
