A dog's life

Thursday, 08 October 2009 by Admin
This is our first ‘child’ Gidget, who’s now 13 years old. She’s a kelpie and has the most adorable floppy soft ears, which she’s had since she was a pup. We got her free from the Newdegate Field Day and then later found out her mum was the neighbour’s dog. Anyway, she’s been a great

Entertaining windfall

Monday, 05 October 2009 by Admin
We had some strong wind a while back and it blew over this tree between our house and the shop where I work. (Update: Picture had to be removed, sorry!) It has provided hours of entertainment for the kids who have turned it into a big cubby. Mac is playing in it with her friend

Grass is greener in computer age

Wednesday, 23 September 2009 by Admin
Who needs computer games when you have other things to do outside. My kids are having a ball with the neighbours’ kids out the back in the bush. They have the hill, the fort, and they were also running around playing hide and seek in the long grass from Blake who was trying to find

Spring is sprung

Monday, 07 September 2009 by Admin
We are slowly moving into warmer weather but, hopefully, the rain will keep coming. I haven’t seen much canola planted around our area, not along the road side anyway. But when we got near Cunderdin and Dowerin there were heaps of canola crops. Their yellow flowers are a sight to see, especially next to a

Little helper

Monday, 17 August 2009 by Admin
My aunty emailed me this photo the other day and its just too cute. It was taken during the 2007/08 harvest and my son Blake just wanted to help his uncle Mocka fix the header. Funny how kids think by them touching it, it will magically work!! If only.

Burning, burning …

Thursday, 18 June 2009 by Admin
Most farmers have finished burning long ago, but this local farmer was having trouble getting through the thick straw with his seeder so he had to try and burn some of it. You can barely see the CBH bin through the heat haze.

Picking rocks?

Monday, 08 June 2009 by Admin
Definitely not picking mushrooms. No, these two little helpers are out picking up golf balls. Their dad practices hitting balls out into the back paddock and the kids love going and getting them (how long till they grow up and realise its not fun and start calling it hard work?). Hopefully we have a few

Candles to the rescue

Sunday, 24 May 2009 by Admin
With all the wind and rain, of course, out went the power. But its great to light all the candles, the kids love it, and they look amazing. These ones are never ‘just for show’ as they get used a lot out here, a major necessity. Trying to cook by candlelight and do bathroom things

Wind and dust!

Saturday, 23 May 2009 by Admin
We are waiting for the rain and instead get strong winds blowing up dust everywhere. Here’s a few couple before it really turned ugly! Not happy farmers today, having to watch their paddocks be blown away to another place. Its trying to rain but the wind shifts it before it can set in. Don’t park

The rock

Friday, 01 May 2009 by Admin
We took the kids up ‘the rock’ before school started again and had a picnic in the cave at the top. It’s a beautiful place to go, and in winter is amazing looking out over the green golf course which is set around the rocks. The kids love climbing over the rocks and playing through
