Simple beauty

Monday, 08 June 2009 by

I drove out to visit my friend Jacinta the other day and took this picture. I just like the fence and the cloudy sky and the way the road went to it. I see such beautiful things just driving around the countryside, especially when i do the mail run every Friday. I keep saying to myself, I wish I’d taken my camera, but the camera never quite seems to capture what I see and the way it makes me feel.

Picking rocks?

Monday, 08 June 2009 by

Definitely not picking mushrooms. No, these two little helpers are out picking up golf balls. Their dad practices hitting balls out into the back paddock and the kids love going and getting them (how long till they grow up and realise its not fun and start calling it hard work?). Hopefully we have a few years up our sleeves.

Today I got the mail and there it was. Finally I could hold The Family Farm in my hand. Its very exciting and overwhelming. Now its waiting for its release date (June 29) and to see what you all think. I will have no nails left by then, I’m sure!

In the Pink

Thursday, 28 May 2009 by

I took a 3 1/2 hour trip to Perth to watch Pink last Friday and it was worth it. My cousin had a spare ticket which I grabbed and we were not dissapointed. Pink was amazing and her acrobatics were fantastic. Thought i’d share a couple of pics I took with you all.

Candles to the rescue

Sunday, 24 May 2009 by

With all the wind and rain, of course, out went the power. But its great to light all the candles, the kids love it, and they look amazing. These ones are never ‘just for show’ as they get used a lot out here, a major necessity. Trying to cook by candlelight and do bathroom things is always a thrill … throw kids into the mix and you have a whoppin’ great time. I think five hours later the power came back on.

Wind and dust!

Saturday, 23 May 2009 by

We are waiting for the rain and instead get strong winds blowing up dust everywhere. Here’s a few couple before it really turned ugly! Not happy farmers today, having to watch their paddocks be blown away to another place. Its trying to rain but the wind shifts it before it can set in. Don’t park under trees or let small animals out of the house!

Mothers Day lunch

Friday, 15 May 2009 by

Hope all mum’s had a great Mothers Day! To raise funds for our babysitter at our local golf club, the girls got together and put on a Mothers Day Lunch with all the trimmings. We had stalls with plants, jewellery, shoes, and had a massive cake stall and raffles. It was a great day and we raised much needed funds. A huge thank you must go out to the girls behind the scene. We are a tiny golf club where some days only two to four girls will play but the few that are there do so much. Everyone does the job of three people I’m sure. But that’s the way it is in a small community, the same people in all different clubs and committies. A top job ladies, were else but in the country do you get a feed fit for a hungry crowd.

The rock

Friday, 01 May 2009 by

We took the kids up ‘the rock’ before school started again and had a picnic in the cave at the top. It’s a beautiful place to go, and in winter is amazing looking out over the green golf course which is set around the rocks. The kids love climbing over the rocks and playing through the cave and crevices. (I know I loved it as a kid…still do as a BIG kid now) Every time we go up we have to have a go at moving the boulder … dang thing still wont budge! You can see the town of Pingaring in the background … well the large CBH bins at least.

Outloading

Tuesday, 28 April 2009 by

My hubby has been busy over the road at the CBH bin’s outloading last years grain. So busy that he couldn’t stop for lunch so we ran over some hot toasties and I took this pic of him working hard on the new Volvo loader inside the large Q type bin. He has been filling road trains all week and today they were loading the train. He did a good 7-hour stint the other day without a break and gets the dreaded loader arm/sore shoulder. (I’m at home supposed to be painting the house … but lacking enthusiasm!

Hard work pays off

Tuesday, 28 April 2009 by

I spent the last few days messing around in my front garden, shifting slabs of concrete and rocks to do this pathway. And two sore legs and back later I am chuffed with the results. The effort was worth it. Just thought I’d share that with you.
