Bonfire cake

cake

It was my little girl’s 6th birthday recently and she’d requested a bonfire for her party, and also a bonfire cake!

This was the end result. She had a ball, (which kids don’t at a party) and we went through two packets of marshmallows later by the real bonfire.

Books and friends

signing

I enjoyed the three hour drive to Albany as I plotted out ideas for the third book as well as planning chapter 12 of The Cleanest Cut.

Its nice to have time to yourself, no kids, and your choice of music!

So here I was happily signing books in Albany.

Big thanks to Aunty Ida who came with friends in tow! Was great to see the ex pat Pingaring people also, like Colin and Nora.

Big thanks to my cousin Tammy, who looked after me, fed me, gave me a bed and kept me out of trouble in Albany. (I also dragged her to see the new ‘arry Pot’ah movie!)

Albany here I come

mountain

This is a photograph I took of the Stirling Ranges on the way to Albany last week.

My grandparents used to live in Albany and on the holidays I would head down to stay with them.

I always thought they looked like sleeping beauty crossed with a dwarf.

Ah …that’s just one kids imagination!

Albany book signings

I have been very busy with interviews this week and it has been an eyeopener, that’s for sure!

But on Saturday 18th July I will be at the Angus and Robinson Newsexpress from 11am for book signings.

Albany is a great place with a huge country crowd so I am looking forward to it, and catching up with my cousins. Hope to see you there.

I had my launch at Pingaring last week at the local CWA, and I must thank the CWA ladies for their amazing spread of food (as always they don’t disappoint).

It was a great afternoon and a big thanks to all those who came along, especially those from places like Varley, Kulin and Lake Grace. I had a ball.

This is my gorgeous little nephew Joseph taking a looksie at the new book on his latest visit back to the farm.

He’s a bright spark this one and just adorable. (I’m a very proud aunty can you tell.)

Another future farmer no doubt, just like his daddy.

This was the beautiful sunrise I woke to the other morning.

I raced out inbetween getting the kids ready for the bus at 7am, to take this picture behind our backyard.

Launch cuppa

I’m having the launch for The Family Farm next Friday — July 3 — at the CWA in Pingaring from 2.30pm.

If you’re nearby, come in for a cuppa and a chat. I will gladly sign the book, if you really want my scribble in it.

It will be great to catch up with everyone. See you there!

Burning, burning …

IMGP5143

Most farmers have finished burning long ago, but this local farmer was having trouble getting through the thick straw with his seeder so he had to try and burn some of it.

You can barely see the CBH bin through the heat haze.
